Goofing Around

We were eating dinner last night and Joe's face was a mess and he was so cute, I just had to take a picture. Well, of course, everyone else wanted a picture. Dan began laughing at me because I had spaghetti on my face so I gave him a huge spaghetti kiss and then we all just began laughing and taking pictures of each other. Dan hates his picture taken, so I'm glad he let me take a few :)

Education Week

This last week, I had the opportunity to go down to BYU and take some classes. I remember doing this as a youth and it was so much fun! There are several classes to choose from each hour ranging from things spiritual to things like gardening. I went down with my mom, aunt, uncle and grandma. I also had the opportunity to hear my grandpa speak about the upcoming Joseph Smith Papers that will consist of 30 volumes over the next 15 years. My grandpa spoke about the journals of Joseph Smith. He has been working on the Papers of Joseph Smith for about 40 years now and what was once a one man project is now many and funded by Larry H. Miller. I've known about this neat project for awhile now but it was so neat to hear some details!

The next class I attended, well the next two classes of each day were by Chef Brad. He taught the first hour about grains and the importance of using all the grains out there. He also spoke on the importance of teaching our children about cooking and involving them in the kitchen. The next hour he did a cooking demonstration. I learned so much from him! I'm fanatical about health stuff and especially about using grains and beans and such and he gave me even more ideas about including these things in our meals and how to do so without it actually tasting healthy :)

The last class was AWESOME! It was called Square Foot Gardening. I have attempted gardens for about 5 years. My garden last year was so successful! This year...nothin. I made a few mistakes this year in my garden and now it's a forest of weeds. I learned about building pretty boxes, growing up, and getting 3 or more harvests each summer as well as the the option of growing during the winter. The best thing about these gardens are NO WEEDS! They are very low maintenance and many people do this already, so I had a lot of fun learning about this and getting started on it this fall as well as add to it each year.

This is just a picture off of the internet, but this is pretty much what they look like. Dan and I are wanting to make white vinyl boxes so they look pretty on the outside as well. I'll post pictures as we get going on it and share my progress.

Kindergarten

Rachel started Kindergarten last week and LOVES IT! I am thrilled! She is my clingon and can't quite seem to say goodbye to me but prefers that I just drop her off and go, asks me not to stay and is really insisting that Kindergarten is the best thing ever! I'm so happy! It is really weird just having Joe at home. We have fun together but he cries when we drop Rachel off and asks me if he can play with his friend Aiden next door. He will start pre-school in a few weeks and it will be nice for him to have his own "school". I can't believe that all my kid will be in school of some kind this year...really weird :)

Too Much to Tell

Do you ever feel like your running a race? This last month has been like that! Dan and I decided to remodel our bedroom and we just finished that! We installed a fireplace and it is beautiful!!! Dan did such an amazing job! I will post pix soon.

I've been a hiking maniac the last few weeks and this week have finally had a chance to recover, but thanks to my trainer, I'm still so sore every day! I just wish the pant size would go down but I can't complain because I am getting muscle in places I never knew and my trainer informed me I have veins poking out now, so who needs a smaller pants size when you have veins poking out of your neck and arms? LOL

We had Dan's brother Dave and wife Lynette and they're 5 kids come to visit over the 24th of July and we hiked Timp together. It was seriously the highlight of my year so far. I had a lot of fun with them. We also visited temple square and went to the 24th of July parade downtown.

Hailey had a tumbling show the other night and is anxious to move from lvl 3 to lvl 4, so we're thinking of getting her private lessons. She is growing so fast and looking more like a young woman every day...and she's only almost 10!!! SICK!

Hailey and Abby started school this past week. Abby is in 3rd grade and Hailey is in 4th grade. They love their teachers and were very excited to start. My sweet Ray will be in Kindergarten this year but doesn't start for a few more days...and Joe will be in preschool in about a month! I can't believe all my kids will be in school! This is craziness! Time for another? hehe

Well here are all the pix....

Shawns funky hair flip...I tease him about this all the time...so I just had to add it. (he's my youngest brother)
